Apples have had a rich history in Tehachapi, CA. for years they were packed in colorful wooden crates and shipped by rail to big cities back east. Today they are more of a regional crop that can be found locally in Tehachapi and at farmers markets throughout California.  Some of the apple farms are “U-pick,” which means you can actually enter the orchard and pick your own apples.  Many families, school groups and social groups come to Tehachapi in the fall to experience the joy of picking and eating the many varieties of apples grown at 4,000 feet above sea level.

Over the years there have been festivals to celebrate the apple harvest, but over time they have waned.  It is our desire to bring back the small-town feel of an authentic apple festival for families to enjoy in the idyllic setting of downtown Tehachapi.

This year’s festival is a family event featuring craft vendors, food booths, kid events and apple related festivities.  A portion of the proceeds will also go to benefit two local charities Make-A-Wish Foundation and Tehachapi Boy Scout Troop 3.
